There is no chat in SwimWin yet. Your club is on WhatsApp, and that is fine for now — but it is worth knowing what this is meant to replace, because it is not "a chat app".
What it will do
- Club-wide announcements to everybody
- Squad threads for coaches, parents and swimmers in one squad
- Direct messages between a parent and a coach, without either swapping a personal phone number
- Urgent notices when a session is called off
The part that is not about chat
Threads are addressed off the roster. Move a swimmer from Development into Senior squad and they join the Senior thread and leave the Development one, in that same action. Nobody maintains a group. Nobody is still in last season's group because no one remembered to remove them, and no one misses a message because they were never added.
That is the whole reason this belongs in club software rather than in a chat app.
The safeguarding line that will apply
A caregiver cannot message a coach. That restriction is already in the model and it will hold when chat lands.
What to do this season
Keep your group chats. When announcements land, move the club-wide ones over first — those are the ones that get missed.
