There are no discount rules yet. Every club has them, and today every one of them is a charge somebody adjusts by hand.
What it will do
Rules that apply themselves when a charge is calculated:
- Sibling discounts — second and third swimmer at a reduced rate
- Early-bird pricing — register before a date, pay less
- Hardship and scholarship rates — applied to a household, quietly
- Credits — carrying a balance forward rather than refunding it
The point is that the rule is recorded and the discount is explainable. A hand-adjusted charge is a number nobody can reconstruct in October.
What to do this season
Adjust the charge on the account and write the reason down — in the account's statement, not in somebody's inbox. When rules land, the history stays legible.
If your club's discount is a flat rate for a whole category of family, consider making it a different membership type rather than an adjustment on every account.
